PROGRAM
The act of acknowledging the land we occupy and the nations that exist, reminds us that we are guests here. The land is not ours, we do not own her. Indigenous nations have been protecting and caring for this land for far longer than myself and my ancestors. This Acknowledgement is also a thank you.
I feel privileged to have created this art on Treaty 6 territory, originally known as the traditional lands of the Cree, Saulteaux, Dene, Dakota, Lakota, Nakota, and Metis Nations. This work was also created in Toronto (Tkaronto), which encompasses the traditional territory of the Mississaugas of New Credit, the Anishinaabe, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee, and the Huron-Wendat peoples. In spite of the prolonged and continuous attempts at assimilation and colonization, Indigenous people are here and their long silenced beliefs and presence deserve to be recognized.
thank you
Without the support of grants, business sponsorships, and personal donations, the production of Behind Us would not have been made possible. A special thank you is extended to SK Arts for their continuous support in creation and development periods. As well as Dance Alive Studios, Winmar Tisdale, and Dance Saskatchewan for their support in the production process. I also wanted to thank everyone who has supported this production through the purchase of ticket sales. Making and presenting art in Saskatchewan has been a long dreamt about goal and I appreciate the support that this show has received.

ARTISTS
Lindsay Harpham is a professional Contemporary dancer, dance educator, choreographer, and adjudicator based between Vancouver, B.C, and Saskatoon, SK. Following post-secondary education, she has had the pleasure of working with companies such as Red Sky Performance, Larchaud Dance Project, Gadfly, Litz dance, Nimii Project, Hit and Run Productions, Remai Modern, RSD performance, and Nickelodeon. Grateful to have experienced professional dance tours throughout Canada, the United States, Europe, and Australia, she searches for opportunities that feel comparably inspiring. Amongst her most notable performance moments, Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival, Australia Joint Dance Congress, performances with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, and Innovate Film Showcase have expanded her perception of what is possible as an artist. As a creator, Lindsay has choreographed and directed dance films entitled Synonymous Red, Bones, SHH, and most recently Behind Us which was screened at Remai Modern’s LUGO.
Denae Harpham began dancing in Tisdale, Saskatchewan, at the age of two. She has trained in ballet, contemporary, improvisation, tap, jazz, lyrical, hip hop, pointe, and modern. Denae has completed her advanced CDTA tap and jazz exams, as well as her advanced 2 RAD ballet exam. After receiving a full scholarship to dance with the Source Dance Company, Denae moved to Vancouver, where she trained with educators such as Joanne Pesusich, Tessa Tamura, Chanel Lacasse, and Lisa Metz. Denae’s most notable professional opportunities include the dance films “Bones”, “Behind Us”, and “crisscross”, Small Stage’s residency program, and Michelle Creber’s music video, “Lottery”. After training with the Modus Operandi Link program for a year, she became a student of the Modus Operandi Post-Secondary Program under the direction of Tiffany Tregarthen, David Raymond, Kate Franklin, and Maiko Miyauchi. Denae’s passion for understanding the foundations behind movement has led to her enrollment at the University of Regina, working toward the completion of her Bachelor of Kinesiology. Denae is grateful to be part of the live version of “Behind Us” and is excited to step on stage in her home province.
Tianna Therriault is a multidisciplinary artist living in Calgary, AB. She has practiced primarily as a dancer and choreographer but also as a director, producer, writer, and spoken-word artist. Most recently, she created a short dance film called “Manic Pixie Dream Girl” which was funded by Canada Council for the Arts and selected for Dance On Screen (Sudbury, ON), Nextfest (Edmonton, AB) and Moovy Tanzfilmfestival (Cologne, Germany). Currently, she works in arts administration for the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra.
Sponorships provided by SK Arts, Dance Saskatchewan, Dance Alive Studios, Winmar Tisdale, and personal donors, have made the 2023 presentation of Behind Us possible.
